Kotani Pay is a regulated fintech startup focused on cross border payments and remittances. We are backed by multiple venture capitals including Unicef Venture Fund. We enabled mobile money wallets such as MomoPay, to integrate with SMS mobile phones, to receive funds/salary/payments and withdraw cash in regions that do not have internet connectivity.

About the Role

The Intern shall serve as a software developer Intern in Kotani Pay’s Tech Engineering team for a period of three (3) months. This program could potentially be extended to 6 months with the same terms and conditions, subject to agreement between both the intern and Kotani Pay.

Responsibilities

The Intern’s responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting API development, integration, and maintenance.
• Assisting in technical deployment and troubleshooting.
• Providing customer support for customer queries/feedback not limited to engineering-related queries.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams on various projects as delegated by team leads and the management.
• Ensure documentation of work progress, technical processes and workflows diligently in the organisation knowledge centre.
• Strictly adhere to working ethics including being available during official working hours, and ensure timely communication to team leads and HR of absenteeism (e.g. unwell/sick, need to take leave for school exams/classes/personal reasons etc)
• Protecting Kotani Pay’s technology IP and know-how.

Graduates with some of the skillsets listed below will be instrumental in our mutual growth. In addition, the candidate will also have the opportunity to be trained and acquire the skillsets listed here. This is how the internship program will be mutually instrumental for the growth of the intern as well as for Kotani Pay.

1. Backend Development ️

   • Proficiency in Web3 (Smart contracts, dApps, blockchain infrastructure), ZK proof, NestJS for building scalable, modular backend applications.
   • Experience with MongoDB and Mongoose ORM for schema design and database
     operations.
   • High advantage: Implemented a ZK circuit (e.g., private transaction, Merkle proof) or
     Contributed to ZK rollup projects (Scroll, Taiko, Polygon zkEVM).
   • Familiarity with Redis for caching and session management.
   • Proficient in implementing job/task processing frameworks such as Bull Queue.
   • Experience with API development, including RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

2. Frontend Development

   • Experience in modern frontend frameworks, specifically React.js and Nest.js, for building responsive and dynamic user interfaces.
   • Experience with Figma or similar tools.
   • Proficiency with state management libraries like Redux, Recoil, or Zustand.
   • Familiarity with Tailwind CSS or other utility-first CSS frameworks.

3. Database and Data Management

   • Knowledge of NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB.
   • Experience in data modeling, indexing, and query optimization.
   • Hands-on experience with SQL-based databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL for certain data use cases.
   • Familiarity with in-memory databases like Redis for caching and real-time data management.

4. Cloud and DevOps Skills ️

   • Experience with deploying and managing applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
   • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
   • CI/CD pipeline creation and management using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.

5. Additional Skills

   • Experience in debugging and performance optimization skills.
   • Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.
   • Knowledge of testing frameworks like Jest, Cypress, or Mocha/Chai.
   • understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, etc.).

Work Schedule & Location

• The Intern will work (Remotely), based on Vietnam timezone between 9am-6pm, with an hour lunch break from 12-1pm, Monday to Friday.
• Flexibility may be required based on remote working schedules and project deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits

• The Intern will receive a monthly allowance of USD 300 + additional performance bonus/incentives for the duration of the internship program.
• The Intern will gain hands-on technical experience in a fast-paced international startup environment.
• Mentorship and training from Kotani Pay’s engineering and Management team.
