About Us
The Starknet Foundation stewards the growth of Starknet, a cutting-edge Layer 2 blockchain built on Ethereum. Our mission is to scale Ethereum without compromising its security or decentralisation, making powerful, efficient decentralised applications accessible to all.
Now is an incredible time to join Starknet. The ecosystem is expanding - developer activity is growing, transformative projects are launching, and the technology is proving its strength. As adoption accelerates, this is your chance to shape the future of decentralised infrastructure.
We’re not just building technology - we’re reimagining what the digital world could be if it was built with integrity. The Starknet Foundation is home to a world-class team of builders, researchers, and community leaders, all working to create a more open, fair, and decentralised future. At the Foundation, you’ll collaborate with a close-knit team of driven, creative, and unconventional minds to make this vision a reality.
About the Role
The Starknet Foundation is committed to building a thriving, decentralized, and permissionless Ethereum Layer 2 network. As we grow, security is paramount—and we’re looking for a Security Engineer to help safeguard the Starknet ecosystem.
This is a high-impact role for someone with deep technical knowledge of blockchain architecture, smart contract security, and the unique cybersecurity challenges that come with decentralized systems. You’ll help us stay ahead of evolving threats, secure our digital assets, and reinforce trust across the ecosystem.
Given the requirements of the role, we are focusing our search on candidates local to (or willing to spend time in) London, Lisbon, or Tel Aviv (Netanya) at this time
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls to protect the Starknet Foundation’s digital assets and infrastructure.
- Plan and execute security audits across core Starknet components and ecosystem dApps, reporting findings and recommending improvements.
- Monitor and stay ahead of evolving blockchain-specific security threats, trends, and best practices.
- Lead incident response planning and execution, coordinating recovery efforts in the event of a breach.
- Champion a culture of security across the Foundation and the ecosystem through training, documentation, and ongoing education.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Info Security, or a related field.
- Solid background in security engineering and cyber security fundamentals within the web2 or web3 space.
- A keen interest in and willingness to learn about blockchain technology, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, and cryptographic protocols.
- Experience with security auditing and penetration testing of smart contracts and blockchain networks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
- Excellent communicator, capable of translating complex security issues into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Security certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, or CBSP are a plus.
- Proficient in Solidity, Cairo, or secure smart contract development is ideal but not required.
