About the Role
This senior or principal role belongs to the Optalysys Architecture group. The engineer will develop software tools for a photonic compute engine, with emphasis on debugging, observability, validation, and system visualization across simulation and hardware. The position is permanent and full-time, based remotely in the United Kingdom, with travel to Optalysys hubs in the United Kingdom or United States.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and development of an internal debugging, performance, and observability environment.
- Build tools for introspection, traceability, and root-cause analysis across the full system stack.
- Support simulation environments, pre-silicon models, and physical hardware.
- Integrate debugging and observability into the internal simulation framework.
- Coordinate with toolchain developers across simulation, verification, deployment, and debugging workflows.
- Define system-level debug requirements and support software interfaces to photonic hardware.
Required Experience and Skills
- Experience building high-performance, interactive browser visualizations, such as WebGL applications.
- Knowledge of WebAssembly and integrating Rust or Python with web applications.
- Knowledge of Python event simulation, debugging frameworks, performance analysis, and software testing.
- Strong UI and UX background for presenting complex system behavior clearly.
Preferred Experience
Additional useful experience includes AI or machine learning, high-performance computing, cryptography, Rust, Jira, Git, and continuous-delivery pipelines.
