About the Role

This senior or principal role sits in the Optalysys Architecture group. The engineer will connect real applications to novel photonic hardware and deliver the compiler tooling needed by the wider system. The position is permanent and full-time, based remotely in the United Kingdom, with travel to Optalysys hubs in the United Kingdom or United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead specification and development of compiler technology for photonic computing.
• Integrate the compiler with the internal simulation environment and application libraries.
• Provide debug information and develop Optalysys-specific optimization techniques.
• Write documentation and code supporting pre-tapeout verification.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and support system bring-up.
• Capture requirements, define engineering metrics, and deliver work against agreed sign-off criteria.

Required Experience and Skills

• At least ten years of industry experience.
• Strong C, C++, and Python experience.
• Knowledge of compiler internals, MLIR, LLVM, and compiler optimization.
• Knowledge of system-on-chip and memory architectures, Rust, testing frameworks, and technical documentation.

Preferred Experience

Useful additional experience includes PyTorch, ONNX Runtime, HEIR, Concrete, MLIR dialects, instruction-set architectures, performance analysis, Git, and Python-based continuous integration.
