About the Role
Optimism is seeking a strategic, product-minded Head of Marketing to unify and scale our marketing, communications, and brand functions. This leader will bring structure to a previously fragmented function and own the evolution of our product positioning, especially as we bring interoperable Superchain applications to life.
You’ll be responsible for building the foundation of a high-performing team that can clearly articulate the technical value of the OP Stack, inspire developer adoption, and guide the marketing strategy in lockstep with product. We’re looking for a marketing leader who is both visionary and hands-on — someone who’s worked with ambiguous products and helped shape them into category-defining platforms.
The ideal candidate has deep Web2 product marketing experience and a genuine passion for crypto. They’ve led teams across brand, comms, and GTM functions, but come from the product side of marketing — someone who can speak to developers, understand the stack, and define what success looks like for complex, evolving technology.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a cohesive marketing function across brand, comms, and marketing — establishing clear OKRs, roles, and feedback loops.
- Reposition our product marketing to better highlight the flexibility and technical depth of the OP Stack, with a clear focus on driving Superchain app adoption.
- Craft and guide the narrative around interoperable Superchain apps, partnering closely with product to thread storytelling through key launches, milestones, and roadmap updates.
- Level up the team through thoughtful org design, rigorous prioritization, and strong people development — mentor a team of 7–10, create role clarity, and drive executional excellence.
- Collaborate deeply with product, governance, BD, and engineering teams to align on goals, messaging, and launch strategies that move the needle.
- Develop marketing plans rooted in developer insight and data — measure what drives meaningful adoption and refine based on signal, not just vibes.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in marketing, including 5+ in leadership roles with a strong foundation in product marketing.
- Experience working with emerging or ambiguous tech products — you know how to shape narratives, not just amplify them.
- Comfortable in technical environments and can talk to developers in a way that earns trust and drives understanding.
- Experience building marketing functions from the ground up — you bring structure, process, and strategic clarity without crushing creativity.
- A love for crypto — you understand and care about the user and developer journey and have an innate sense for how the space moves.
- Empathetic, methodical, organized, and confident in managing both up and down — you’re just as good at exec comms as you are at developing your direct reports.
